The advent calendar tradition dates back to 1851 in Protestant parts of Germany. The first Advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900s and continues to this day.
This advent calendar was originally produced in 1958 and is now being reissued. Shows a festive German Christmas market set in the town square. Townspeople bustle about finishing their Christmas shopping, while carolers sing near the church. The detailed picture has 24 small doors to open. Behind each door is a small picture.
